What do your energy bills say about your emissions?

Enter the electricity, gas and fuel from a year of bills and fuel cards. See your Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions using the official UK Government factors, the upstream emissions if you want them, and which source matters most.

Energy and fuel used in a year

Use your last twelve months of bills, meter readings or fuel card reports. The example figures are illustrative.

Total kWh from your electricity bills, for all sites.
Your bills show kWh. For gas billed in cubic metres, your bill also shows the kWh figure.
From fuel cards or mileage claims for vehicles the business owns or leases.
Options
Emissions from producing and delivering your fuel, and electricity lost in the grid. Often asked for in tenders.
Optional. Shows your average price per kWh.
Optional, for intensity.
Optional, for intensity.

This is an estimate from the figures you enter. Nothing you type is sent anywhere unless you choose to send it with the form.

How it works

The sums, in plain sight.

Each quantity is multiplied by its UK Government conversion factor for 2026, in kg CO2e: electricity 0.13096 per kWh; natural gas 0.18231 per kWh; diesel 2.58354, petrol 2.07500, heating oil 2.54016, gas oil 2.75541 and LPG 1.55713 per litre.

Scope 1 covers fuel the business burns itself. Scope 2 covers electricity bought, on the location-based method required in UK reporting. Upstream adds the well-to-tank factors for each fuel and the grid transmission and distribution losses for electricity.

This covers energy and fuel only. Refrigerant leaks, business travel in other vehicles and everything you buy sit outside it. For purchased goods and services, use the Supply Chain Carbon Snapshot on the Waterfront Advisory site.
